Groups & Sects

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

It was reported from ‘Awf ibn Maalik who said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“The Jews were divided into seventy-one sects, one of which is in Paradise and seventy are in the Fire. The Christians were divided into seventy-two sects, seventy-one of which are in the Fire and one is in Paradise. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, my Ummah will be divided into seventy-three sects, one of which will be in Paradise and seventy-two will be in the Fire.” It was said, O Messenger of Allaah, who are they? He said, “Al-Jamaa’ah.”

The Islamic Creed & Its History

Author: Muhammad al-Jami | Pages: 218 | Size: 16 MB

Characteristics of the Hypocrites

Author: Ibn Qayyim | Pages: 78 | Size: 4 MB

In the Qur'an, Allah has revealed the machinations of the hypocrites, He has unveiled their beliefs, their qualities, and made their goals clear so that the believers can be aware of them. He divided mankind into three groups in the beginning of Surah al-Baqarah: the believer, the disbeliever, and the hypocrite. He mentioned four verses concerning the believers, two verses concerning the disbelievers, and thirteen verses concerning the hypocrites due to their plenitude and the great harm and tribulation they bring to Islam and the Muslims. The harm they cause to Islam is truly severe for they claim to be Muslims, they claim to aid and support Islam, whereas in reality they are its enemies seeking to destroy it from within, covertly spreading their corruption and ignorance such that the unwary thinks that what they are upon is knowledge and right action.

The Signs of the Hypocrites

Author: Aidh al-Qarni | Pages: 82 | Size: 2 MB

Based on the Arabic Work Thala Thun Alamah lil-Munafiqin by Shaykh Aa`id `Abdullah al-Qarni

When it is said to them: "Do not make mischief on the Earth," they say: "Why? We only want to make peace." Beware, they are the ones that cause mischief but they do not realise. [Surah al-Baqarah (2):11-12]

The sign of a believer is that he understands the Religion and is constantly increasing his knowledge of certain matters and benefits and he is covetous of all that is good, as well as the gatherings wherein it is disseminated. The hypocrite, however, completely turns away. When the people talk in a gathering about matters to do with the Prayer or worship, it is to him as if they are speaking in a different language. A useful work in current times when Hypocrisy has made deep roads in the Muslim Society

The Devil's Deception [Talbis Iblis]

..Ibn Jawzi enumerates within it, many of the mechanisms and modus operandi used by the devil in deceiving and leading mankind away from the Straight Path. It is of particular value and importance because only by unearthing and accentuating some of the traps of the devil, can mankind avoid them as well as navigate others away from falling prey to his harm. Speaking about the devil and his plotting, the author wrote that, "he was only able to do so while creeping during the night of ignorance. Had the dawn of knowledge shone on him, he would have been exposed. Thus I decided to warn from his plots for identifying evil is a form of warning from it." ...

The Mirage in Iran

Author: Dr. Ahmad Al-Afghanee | Pages: 45 | Size: 22 MB

By Dr. Ahmad Al-Afghanee TR: Bilal Philips
This translation of Dr. Ahmad al-Afghani's book, Sarab fee Iraan, provides the English reader with a concise view of the treacherous role played by the Shiites in Islamic history. It also examines the doctrines of modern Shiite scholars and presents the Islamic ruling passed on Shiites by both early Muslim scholars, as well as contemporary scholars. The need for material which critically analyzes Shiite doctrines continues to be felt by English-speaking Muslims inspite of recent efforts to fill the void. Pro-Sheeah books, magazines, newspapers and pamphlets in which the noble companions of the Prophet (pbuh) are slandered, 'Alee and some of his descendents deified and Islam distorted, continue to flood Muslim communities throughout the West with little or no written response from Muslim scholars. Consequently, the wave of conversion of Muslims to Shiite thought is steadily increasing to such a degree that Shiite Masjids and centers are actually being founded or built by Shiite converts from mainstream Islam.

Note: Due to some technical difficulties some symbols were not scanned correctly in this document, so you may see some strange symbols next to the names of Allah, The Prophet and The Sahabah.

A critical Analysis of the Modernists and Hadeeth Rejecters

Author: Sajid A. Kayum | Pages: 145 | Size: 8 MB

As Muslims, we are obliged to believe and understand our religion in a manner that Allah wants us to. The way to achieve this is mentioned in the Qur'aan. Allah says, "And if they believe as you (i.e., the Sahabah) believe then they are rightly guided, but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition." [Soorah al-Baqarah (2): 137] In light of this verse, the correct understanding is what emulates the beliefs and understandings of the Sahabah (the Prophet's Companions).

Fundamental Shi'ite Beliefs

Author: Abdullah ibn Muhammad As-Salafi | Pages: 87 | Size: 1 MB

An important book shows the corrupt belief of Shi’ites. The author said in the introduction, “I wrote this book for a number of reasons including: (1) The increased efforts of the Shi’ites to spread their ideology in the Muslim world. (2) The danger of this deviant sect poses on Islam. (3) The ignorance of many Muslims about the danger of this deviant sect. (4) The corrupt Aqeedah (belief system) of the Shi’ites, which includes polytheism, defamation of the Quran and defamation of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them all. (5) Their extreme beliefs in relation to their imams."

Neo-Salafiyyah

By Imam Shakeel Begg and Br Ilyas Townsend Neo-Salafiyyah: This group has appeared in modern times and there is still great confusion and 'fitnah' surrounding it. A very basic definition of salafiyyah is to follow the Qur'an and Sunnah with the understanding of the Prophet , his companions and the Salaf us-Salih (Pious predecessors). There is nothing wrong with the definition of 'salafiyyah'. The term neo-salafiyyah has been used for this lecture because 'shuyukh', 'students of knowledge', brothers and sisters have added concepts and characteristics to salafiyyah to the point that when a person a hears the term 'salafi', their beliefs, thoughts, feelings, assumptions etc are often in direct opposition to what salafiyyah is. How is it a person can associate bad manners, following of a few scholars and no connection with the worldwide ummah (just to name a few) with salafiyyah?
